The playground equipment generously donated by John Tursi in memory of his wife, Doris, is nearly complete.  Board Member, Rob Waligurski, along with volunteers Ray Bloom, Mike Harris, Terry Green, Harry Chandler, Robert Baggs, David Rapella, & Curt Oppel have been working hard to prepare the site and assemble the equipment.  Island Rentals contributed a jack for the build and Karl Yost arranged the use of a laser level for the duration of the project.  The Anacortes High Basketball teams also helped out on a Saturday (click here for details) to prepare the ground for the build.  We are awaiting a few final parts to arrive to replace some factory defects, but the project will be complete very soon.  Our youngest residents have been excitedly and anxiously monitoring the progress and are eager to begin "performance testing."  Many thanks to everyone who contributed their time, talents and financial support to provide a fun and safe place to play. The children here at the shelter, as well as all who will reside with us in the future, are very lucky to have such wonderful community support.
