Volunteers are key to the success of the Anacortes Family Center.

Here are some ways you can help us out:

ongoing opportunities
  • Assisting in the Office: answering phones, handling light clerical tasks

  • Leading Life Skills: helping clients with budgeting, cooking, parenting, employment

  • Presenting Life Skills for Kids: assisting with art projects, music, and more

  • Organizing the Hub: tidying up supplies for clients

  • Gardening: trimming, weeding, planting

  • Serving as a Mentor: making a difference through YOUTHConnect

    • Helping clients with a resume or preparing for an interview

    • Meeting one-on-one with clients to apply for housing or create a budget

occasional needs
  • Decorating: getting the Family Center ready for the holidays

  • Repairing: simple electrical needs and plumbing fixes, working on appliances and furniture, changing light bulbs and batteries

  • Moving: using strong arms and backs, pickup trucks on occasion

  • Cleaning: “turning“ our units for new clients

  • Childcare: giving an hour or more to help parents fully engage with their Case Manager without little ones present

  • Delivering: taking posters and flyers to local businesses

These are just a few examples; our volunteers contribute in many more ways.  We support them with training and help from our staff as needed.
