LANDING APARTMENTS
Thanks to broad community support and a variety of funding sources, our next affordable housing project is under way – Landing Apartments. Work is in progress on 26th Street, behind our Launch Apartment building and across from Island Hospital’s emergency entrance.
The building will offer 21 studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments, with five set aside for income-eligible essential hospital workers. The first floor will house an Early Learning Center for Anacortes children.
NEW ADMINistration BUILDING
Our new administration building, on the site of the former “little green house” at 2702 Commercial Avenue, will be under construction soon as well. The design will harmonize with our most recent projects; in fact, we’re using the same “shell” as the one created for the Family Transition Center to hold design costs in check.
We look forward to having much more functional space in our new offices – the building will allow us to offer more services right on site. It will house a demonstration kitchen, an office for A Simple Gesture’s food program, and a place where Skagit Legal Aid staff can meet with people needing assistance. We even plan to include a shower available for anyone in need in Anacortes.
